flash rack irish street tattoo belfast downpatrick

I have just opened a new shop and despite being mostly custom I wanted some flash just get people going. I know you kids will turn your nose up at flash but what do you think Google, Pinterest and Instagram are?? I got a quote for a rack that was nearly £1,000.00(2014)with VAT and P&P, so I though I'd make it myself. What you need are, 4mm CORREX board(long flute, gap runs length not width) these are really cheap and used by signmakers. 4mm steel rods, I had 32 of each. I wanted 3 flash sheets per side so trimmed the board to fit and rounded corners(stanley, craft knife). With my trusted vintage Singer 201K I sewed a trim round the edges(you can use electrical/duct tape) to make it look neater. Then push metal rods down the gap in the Correx so that about 1 inch is poking out each end. Get some wood to make a frame, I made the holes 1 inch apart to give room to turn pages, the hole should be just deep enough to keep the page from scraping on the wood(it'll wear out), I did the holes on the top frame an inch to the left so that the pages would fall back closed(you get bored pushing them shut when customers have finished with it). Then just mount the wood frame on the wall, the space is hard to work out, get someone to hold it in place then practice to make sure you can take the page out, if that's what you want to do. Paint the wood to match your studio decor, put you pages in and fill with flash. The wall space I used could fit 12 sheets of A3 but now I have room for 192! Hope this is of help to someone out there. I guess I'm just a guy who doesn't like to pay for something I can make myself.
